Professor of Economics
Yann Algan is the Director of the HEC Institute (overseeing HEC’s centers and institutes) and a Professor of Economics at HEC Paris. He previously served as Dean of Pre-experience Programs at HEC and as the founding Dean of the School of Public Affairs at Sciences Po.
His research primarily explores the role of emotions and trust within organizations and societies, the influence of AI on business, society, work, and democracy, as well as the evaluation of management, labor-market, and education policies. His articles have been published in all the top-five economics journals and his distinctions include the Best Young French Economist Award, the Best French Economics Book and Best French Essay. He has also served on the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council. He has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant and an ERC Consolidator Grant for his research on Trust and Emotions, and AI and Democracy.
